THE PROS & CONS OF LAB GROWN DIAMONDS
When you’re giving someone a piece of jewellery you hope they’ll be wearing for decades to come, you want to feel good about seeing them wear it. It helps if you know that you made an informed decision about where to purchase it.
How a lab grown diamond is created matters, because some lab practices may not be any better than traditional diamond mining.
Here are the things that many people consider in their search:
PRO
They cost less. Lab grown diamonds cost (on average) 10% to 30% less than what Mother Nature creates.
PRO
Lab grown diamonds are chemically real diamonds. LGDs are almost identical to the physical, chemical, and cosmetic characteristics of natural diamonds.
Con
They’re not as valuable. Manufactured diamonds might look pretty, but they aren’t going to get you much in resale value. Many people have the view that lab grown diamonds are not real diamonds because they don’t come from the earth, but manufacturers promise they are visually and chemically identical.

The carbon footprint isn’t great. If the manufacturing process for lab-grown diamonds uses energy generated from fossil fuels, it can create more carbon dioxide emissions than natural diamond mining.
