Baselworld has been fantastic so far! We’ve seen so many remarkable releases from the world’s leading watch brands. This year TAG has used their history to forge a new path with their latest Autavia collection. This new collection takes its inspiration from the original Autavia models and makes use of the most innovative watch making technology to appeal to a new generation of adventurers.

From 1933 to 1957, the Autavia was a dashboard instrument used in racing cars and aircrafts. The name itself comes from the combination of automobile and aviation. The timepiece became immediately recognizable and captured a new excitement of rally racing. With history, comes future and today the Autavia is being reintroduced as its own collection with seven references that have been designed with the adventurous and daring spirit that the Autavia is known for.

Many fans of the watch appreciated its timeless style and aesthetics, its eye-catching features which are now rooted in the history of the line. The original timepiece was loved for its functionality, timeless style and numerous combinations, of which are now evident in the new models released at Baselworld. The original Autavia was well known for being highly legible in any conditions it was faced with; this is also the case with the new 2019 versions. The hour markers and the minute and seconds hands are coated in SuperLuminova, making it possible to read the watch in the darkest of times.

The original Autavia was known for making use of the latest technology and there is no difference with the new models. The new Autavia models feature the cutting-edge technology; the new models feature the cutting edge, in-house carbon-composite hairspring that the avant-garde watchmaker introduced earlier this year. Developed with a calibre 5 movement, which is 26mm in diameter & boasts a 38 hour power reserve. TAG Heuer manages to fuse heritage with the latest technological advances in horology – which is what TAG does best.
